Assisted patrons with information needs at the reference desk.  The library is located within a large campus medical center and serves physicians, students, nurses and the public.  Resources include multiple databases and 12 floors of printed literature for nursing, medicine, psychology, biology and global science information.

2008 RECORDS PROCESSOR (internship), Sci - Tech Council, Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, LA, CA
Processed archival paper collections and digitized these records, applications and materials pertaining to past award submissions into the council's database. (120 hours; University credit, April - June).

RECORDS PROCESSOR
(internship), National Archives & Records Administration, Laguna Niguel, California
Processed new and previously accessioned record series to create corresponding finding aid descriptions for NARA's online database.   Materials consisted of 24 linear feet of typescript correspondence from government and military agencies, dating back to 1918. (120 hours; University credit, January - March).

2007 - 2008 MESSENGER CLERK, Kaufman Brentwood Branch Library, Los Angeles, California  
Assist librarians, return collection materials, process interlibrary loan holds and facilitate administrative needs for patrons at the circulation desk.  (01/2007--08/2008).

2007  PHOTOGRAPHY/WARDROBE PROCESSOR (internship), NBC-Universal Archives and Collections, LA, California
Collated, processed, re-housed and cataloged all of the publicity photography materials for a 1963 Universal feature film. Formats included 35mm, 120mm, 8x10 and 4x5. Also processed and cataloged five wardrobe costumes from three different films released in 2007. (156 hours; University credit, September-December).


RESEARCH INTERN
(internship), Simon Wiesenthal Library and Archives, Los Angeles, California
Surveyed collection records database for testimony materials. Established a new record schema in the center’s database to identify and organize Holocaust and genocide eyewitness testimony materials. (140 hours, May-September).

2002-2006 PERSONAL SERVICE COORDINATOR, Telecare AB34 Program, Los Angeles, California.  
Archived the daily behavior and progress of clients diagnosed with severe mental illness at this outpatient mental health clinic. Assisted clients develop and use life skills on an individual, daily basis. Linked clients to resources in education, employment and recovery; assisted with court, probation and parole mandates as required.  Worked in various settings such as personal residences, board and care homes, schools, hospitals, jails and on the street. (5/2002-9/2006).

2001-2002 PRIMARY COUNSELOR, Foothill Mental Health and Rehabilitation, Sylmar, California. (facility is now closed)
Documented and monitored the monthly progress of adults diagnosed with a severe mental illness in a locked psychiatric facility setting.  Coordinated team meetings with psychiatrists, family members and conservators for regular progress reviews. Evaluated and composed rehabilitation care plans with residents.  Facilitated living skills groups and community outings for clients.  Provided daily crisis intervention for unstable behavior episodes.  (03/2001-5/2002).

Created 85 illustrations for the cookbook “Better Than Take-Out (& Faster, Too).”  Available at amazon.com.

SCENIC PROP ARTIST, Tribal/Primary Scenery, Los Angeles, California.
Created props and decorated sound stage sets for commercial and film productions. (11/2000-2/2001).

GUIDANCE COUNSELOR, Buck's Rock Creative Arts Camp, New Milford, Connecticut.
Counseled young artists (ages 12 through 18) with their personal artistic interests and projects.  Supervised the use of the camp's extensive art, dance, music and theater facilities. Drafted the camp's first scale map that became the basis for a color, digital version that the campers labeled. (06/2000-08/2000).

RESTORATION ARTIST, Pantages Theater (Evergreen), Hollywood, California.
Cleaned, painted, glazed and gilded the theater's extensive interior decor to restore and prepare the condition of this historic Hollywood theater for the Broadway production of The Lion King. (5/2000-6/2000).

GRADUATE INSTRUCTOR, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, Nebraska.  
Instructor of record for beginning, intermediate and figure drawing classes in the Art & Art History Department. Also taught beginning printmaking and improved the print studio facilities by constructing new equipment for undergraduate use. (08/1997-05/2000).

ART PICTURE FRAMING SPECIALIST, Hobby Lobby, Springfield, Missouri.
Created, repaired, designed and restored frame projects for a multitude of clientele needs. Cut mats, made archival containers and assembled frames for the preservation of photos, art, documents and various artifacts.  (08/1996-08/1997).

Low-wire tightrope walking performance for summer camp program at the museum: 43' long wire cable, tensioned at 6' high above the patio courtyard. No balance pole.  See tightrope page on this site for video and photo. (29 July 2010).

2005 “Illuminating Change”, Los Angeles, California
Produced, directed and shot all video for a 27-minute, DVD documentary chronicling a homeless outreach program in downtown Los Angeles for Telecare Corporation. Used as a training and communication tool with interfacing community agencies. This DVD reveals the perspectives of an outpatient mental health agency through the voices of clients diagnosed with severe and persistent mental disease.

2003  Visiting Artist Lecture, University of Gainesville, Florida
Invited to speak to the University’s Art & Art History faculty and student body about my approach to creating artwork about locale investigations of where aberrant behavior or activity has occurred.  Presented to the faculty and student body of the Art Department as well as to three undergraduate studio classes.  Also conducted individual studio critiques for graduate students.

2001-2006 "Mount Carmel Memorial" Mount Carmel Visitor's Center, East of Waco, Texas
Created and installed a memorial model of the residential complex east of Waco, Texas that was destroyed in 1993 following an ATF raid and 51 day FBI siege.  The model was exhibited for five years in a Visitor’s Center’s that was built where the actual residential complex once stood as a memorial for the 76 people who perished on April 19, 1993 (20 of whom were under the age of 18).  The model was accessioned by the archival repository at the Alkek Library at Texas State University San Marcos in October of 2009.
