The Timberline Lodge

Ever since elementary school when I first saw the movie The Shining, The Timberline Lodge has fascinated me. Staff at the lodge wrote me back when I was in high school (1980s) after I had written to request photos of the lodge’s exterior be mailed to me. So needless to say by the time I made it a priority to visit the lodge in 2012, the trip was one full of picture taking. Below are some photos in reverse chronological order. So impressive were the lodge chairs inside the lobby that I measured them, sketched them, and later reconstructed a two of them from scratch back in Los Angeles out of steel and wood – see my “Other Media” tab for photos of those chairs.
